When Sample Sales Call For an “Official Master of Ceremonies”

Last week, Manolo Blanhik held its seasonal sample sale. Nothing new there BUT this time they invited Vogue‘s André Leon Talley to be the Official Master of Ceremonies. Apparently ALT offered advice to shoppers on what to buy, gushing about just how beautiful the shoes were. I have to say I like this idea. Good sample sales are always a bit crazed and you could almost always use a second opinion. A strong and trusted industry personality would certainly make any similar event more buzzworthy, and more like an event than a rummage sale. Not to mention that sales would probably increase with the right person. I don’t know if DVF has ever showed up at her sample sales, but I am willing to bet there would be a lot more wrap dresses off the racks if she did.
