It’s been a couple seasons since I first started seeing all things life-aquatic inspired at fabric shows. Fast forward to Spring 12 and Oceana becomes one of our leading ladies forecasting trends as our fascination with the underwater world grows.
Designer Park Sul-Nyeo must have gotten the memo. On Sunday, a new department store in Seoul, Korea (of which I can’t find more information on) feted its opening with the world’s first underwater fashion show. Park Sul-Nyeo featured dresses inspired by traditional hanbok styles in vibrant hues. The results look spectacular, though perhaps more suitable for a magazine spread than an actual fashion show. I would love to know more about the designs – as in what fabrics were used because I wouldn’t think chiffon looks this good underwater (or perhaps after taking a plunge). And what about the show itself – was it staged in an aquarium? In any case, Ariel never looked this good under the sea!
