It’s a Mod, Mod World

In Paris a number of designers feature a Mod 60s aesthetic, which is shaping up to become a leading influence for the Spring 11 season. Here, a look at who did it and various reference points.

Giambattista Valli is the closest to a Space Age 60s expression. Shift dresses are important with various touches of color blocking or metallic pockets. Matchy-matchy boxy tops and slim high waist pants also feed into the look. Orange comes in as a favored fashion color.

At Ungaro, mod flower prints set a 60s vibe which will undoubtedly be relevant for the junior market.

Felipe Oliveira Baptista combines a mod 60s spirit with sporty references for an enticing twist. Boxy shapes are reflected on dresses and jackets and utilitarian pockets are applied as a detail. Color blocking pushes the sporty vibe forward as well as trompe o’leil lapels. Select cut-outs and sheer layers add a futuristic sense.
