At Miu Miu, Everyone’s Famous

I love Miuccia Prada for her underlying political messages that are often embedded in her collections. This time around for Miu Miu’s Spring 2011 collection, she addressed “everyone’s obsession with being famous”. The clothes spoke to fame (or fame-seekers) with neon colors, shiny metallics, walk-of-fame star prints and bold shoulder “Elvis” jackets. There were also some print plays with snakes and the lotus flower, perhaps as to say that after you’ve fallen to temptation and blown it all (ah-hem, Linsanity), that you can start afresh. Meanings aside, the collection hit a number of high notes with pleats galore (sometimes in contrasting colors), kilt skirts, long sleeved satin dresses and beautiful lattice detailing on tops.
