Connect The Dots

Marc Jacobs, Fall 11

In New York, Marc Jacobs featured a smattering of polka dots, set to 40s silhouettes (often skirt suits). The dots ranged from latex applications to prints and jacquards. A week later in London, we see David Koma experiment with a very similar polka dot motif, inspired by artist Yayoi Kusama. Koma also stuck to similar ladylike shapes like the pencil skirt, though applications veered into more optical territory and ranged from mixed prints to circle cut-outs.
